Sheila Afari PR is looking for a full time music publicist to join the team.
We require public relations and communications specialist that focuses on cultivating and maintaining the positive image of our music / artist PR client base.

We require a creative thinker who has proven public and media relations training and strong communication skills, as well as knowledge of the Internet and other new media formats.

A Bachelors or Masters degree certificate in public relations, communication, marketing, business, journalism, advertising, or another related field is advantageous.

In addition to speaking for our clients, the music publicist will also create press releases and speeches for press conferences, interviews, and other important events. The music publicist will also be able to work in social media value adds for our clients.

We are looking for a confident media professional to schedule meetings and build opportunities with third parties. The successful candidate will also need to speak to the artists they represent and create a rapport with them that is professional and progressive.

The job will also require you to consider the importance and necessity of career opportunities for our clients, such as working with charities and non-profit organisations, going on tour, promotional appearances, or interviews.

You will be considered a lead marketing professional for our clients projects, you will often be required to help promote tours, albums, and campaigns for these opportunities to increase exposure and generate sales and public interest for our clients.

The Sheila Afari PR company has built a reputation on being consistent, hard working and results driven. You will be responsible for reporting and managing junior publicists out puts in your division on a weekly basis. Your strong personality and ability to multitask will be central to your success.

We require the following to consider your application:
  • Three years of PR experience
  • A solid book of contacts in media in South Africa and Africa
  • Previous experience of leading a team
  • Passion for music arts and creativity
  • Strong personality
